At Castle Hill School we provide training and development opportunities for teachers and leaders at all stages in their career from

Trainee Teachers to Early Career Teachers to Leadership Development. 

In addition we provide specific SEND CPD support in a range of subject areas including:

·     Assessment

·     Communication

·     Early maths

·     Positive behaviour 

We work with highly experienced System Leaders who deliver support and training across different phases. ​​

Teacher Training

Do you have a passion for SEND? Do you want a career in teaching? Is your ambition to become a SENCO?

Castle Hill School deliver School Direct Teacher Training in Primary (5-11) with SEND PGCE in partnership with Huddersfield Horizon SCITT. By becoming a School Direct trainee you will be immersed in school life from day one. 

Throughout the duration of the training you will engage in teaching within at least 2 different settings and work with children across 2 different Key Stages. You will be assessed at 3 points within the year; beginning, developing and extending. 

All of the theoretical training will be delivered at Castle Hill School, or one of our SEND partner schools. The practical element of the training will be within one of our partner SEND schools and a local mainstream setting. 

The requirements to apply for a place are:

Minimum 2:2 degree

GCSE English, maths, science (C or above)

Early Careers Teacher

Castle Hill School supports the Calderdale and Kirklees Teaching School Hub to deliver the Early Career Framework for ECTs working in Special Schools. By delivering a bespoke package for our ECTs working in SEND schools we are able to ensure that their developmental needs are fully met.
